Dr. Gakonyo is the Principal Investigator in a cadaveric study titled "ORIGIN OF THE ARTERY ENTERING THE MANDIBULAR MIDLINE LINGUAL FORAMEN AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY"
He has recently obtained Ethical approval(No:P694/11/2014) to carry out this original research project whose findings will be extremely helpful to Oral Implantologists in case of a bleeding emergegency in the anterior mandibular area following implant placement.
The study is being carried out at the Human Anatomy Laboratory of the University of Nairobi.
