Biography

Marie Claire Uwamahoro is an Assistant Lecturer in the school of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda. Her research interests are Maternal Child Health, communicable & non-communicable diseases (NCDs), teaching and clinical research. She developed and taught different modules regarding Nursing, Maternal Child Health, Research and Epidemiology in Nursing, Medicine and Midwifery. She conducts different community outreaches regarding malnutrition prevention, nutrition, NCDs and teaches students in several clinical areas. Marie Claire Uwamahoro supervises Masters theses and she worked as an external reviewer in Rwanda High Council of Education (HEC) to review different curriculum in Nursing and Midwifery. Since 2016 till now, she is a board member of the National Council of Nurses and Midwifery in Rwanda.

Marie Claire received her Master’s in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of Zambia in 2014 and she is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing/non-communicable diseases at University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. In 2017, She won a highly competitive PhD scholarship from Consortium Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA). She benefited different Joint Advanced Seminars (JASs) organized by CARTA in different countries such as South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya and Italy. She also won Early Career Academic Grant of Association of Commonwealth Universities to attend the conference, among many competitors. She did an international course of Epidemiology in Italy known as the European Educational Programme in Epidemiology (EEPE 2019). She has leadership skills and led a Master’s program in Medical-Surgical Nursing for 2 years at the University of Rwanda.
