Fully acccredited by COSECSA and PAACS as a higher education location for orthopedics, Tenwek is now accepting 2 orthopedic residents per year. Residents spend their first 2 years rotating through general surgery services, followed by 3 years of intensive orthopedics training. Due to the high burden of road traffic accidents in the region, orthopedic residents experience a high case volume of trauma, as well as elective orthopedic cases such as total knee replacements, arthroscopy and more. Additionally, Tenwek serves as a rotation site for Moi University Orthopedic Residency, where residents can rotate for 3 months.
