International Health Sciences University (IHSU) is currently conducting a study titled: Confidential Enquiry into maternal and child deaths.

This is a multi-country study that is being undertaken with the overall headship of the University of Oxford HURAPRIM (Human Resources for Primary Healthcare) project which seeks to design, implement and evaluate interventions to improve the situation.

It is currently being conducted in the partner African countries of Mali, Botswana, Sudan, South Africa, United Kingdom, Belgium and Uganda (Mbarara and Kibuli). IHSU began a satellite site for the HURAPRIM project of Confidential Enquiry of Maternal and Child deaths in Kibuli parish in Makindye division, Kampala district.

Confidential Enquiries have been useful for evaluating gaps in healthcare in the UK, but are not yet widely used in Africa.
