Malnutrition has both short and long term effects and may lead to increased mortality among children under five years. It may also lead to impaired development, poor educational achievement and poor economic productivity if not addressed at an early stage of child growth and development. Rapid growth of urban informal settlement is being experienced in Kisumu city in Kenya and this slum is characterized by overcrowding, filth, inadequate water supply, poor drainage and poverty.
